Why are some of my cookies cracked when others aren't

Question

We have been making a chocolate chip recipe for years. Recently, we are experiencing a difference in the baked cookie appearance even within the same batch. Some of the cookies bake up with a crackled top - almost as though they had oats in them (they do not). Cookies from the same batch, baked in the same oven, at the same time, do not. We have not had any substitutions on ingredients. Can you provide any insight? Thank you.

Answer

Cookies are very susceptible to steam and like a nice dry environment to bake in it could be down to the atmosphere in the chamber try running the oven on fan assisted mode if you have this option and open the door to pull off the moisture about 5 mins into the bake

Hope this helps
