Turmeric, beetroot and chilli loaf in breadmaker.

This bread is a favourite on the bar at the Queen's Head, Burnham on Crouch, Essex on a Sunday lunch time. Its colours come from turmeric and beetroot powder which miraculously separate so that the crust is red, whilst inside remains yellow. Delicious with cheese, dips or olive oil.

Ingredients

1 tsp dried yeast

500g strong white flour

1 tsp turmeric powder

2 tsp beetroot powder

25g olive oil

1.5 tsp salt

1 tsp chilli flakes (optional)

340g water

Method

I use the standard white loaf (basic) setting on my Panasonic bread maker, medium size, dark crust.

Made this loaf. It turned out perfectly. A lovely yellow colour and great with salami and soup. Will make it for Christmas.
