Quick Dinner Rolls


For 6 large rolls:


In a mixing bowl (or bowl of mixer) place in this order:

2 tablespoons marg or butter

1/4 cup boiling water

1/2 cup milk (or non dairy milk)

1 tablespoon dried yeast

1 teaspoon sugar


Mix well, then add:

One cup of Shipton Mill Strong White Flour 


Mix well then add:

Another cup of Shipton Mill Strong White Flour and a teaspoon of salt


Mix for 10 minutes in the mixer (or knead by hand)

Prove for 10 minutes (or longer if you can) covered with teatowel, heat oven to 200 degrees c


Next, throw half a cup of flour onto your favorite baking stone, tray or dish, turn dough out onto the dish and divide into six pieces. shape into six rolls and leave to prove for 30 minutes covered with a teatowel in a warm place (on top of the oven as it warms is good)


Bake for 15 minutes, wipe tops with a little oilve oil or melted butter whilst warm and loosen from tray. Cool for half an hour (or more) before serving.

Cup measurements

I am not familiar with cup measurements. Could you tell me please the equivalent in ozs or grams .

Hi Stephanie I have a set of metal cups, they are an American measurement system similar to our measuring spoon sets (eg a teaspoon is 5ml) one cup is 25cl. Its worth getting a set as many recipes use them and they aren't expensive. I'm useless at weighing things! :)
