Bread Proving Basket - Oval (1kg)
Our bread proving baskets (bannetons) are made from birchwood cane. They are used for the fermentation of the dough and forming bread loaves. Prepare the basket by dusting it with flour (we suggest rye or any other non-wheat flour to prevent sticking), then put the dough in the basket and leave to rise. This proving basket is suitable for making 1kg oval loaves (length 30cm).
The basket is easy to clean. It needs to be brushed with a hard brush and washed with water. Do not use soap to clean it. When drying the basket put the basket in the oven at 130’c for 45mins, this will dry the basket and kill any possible germs and moulds. The baskets are not suitable for baking bread in the oven.
