Deliveries from Shipton Mill

Delivery Charges

Our standard charge for delivery on orders up to a value of £29.99 is £6.00.

Regrettably, there is a surcharge for Northern Ireland, Eire and areas considered "more remote" by the courier company. This does not reflect the true cost of delivering to these areas which is heavily subsidised by Shipton Mill. Please see "Northern Ireland and Remote Areas" below for further information.

Want Free Delivery?

We offer Free Delivery to most parts of the country on order values of £30 or more up to a maximum weight of 100kg.

Please Note: Regrettably there is no free delivery to Northern Ireland, Eire and areas considered "more remote" by the courier companies - for further information please see "Northern Ireland and Remote Areas" below.

Where Do You Deliver To?

We deliver to the UK mainland. This includes England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Flour Direct does not routinely deliver to addresses outside the United Kingdom. As an exception, Flour Direct does deliver to the Republic of Ireland - the Northern Ireland delivery charge applies.

If you are outside the UK, but would like to order flour from Shipton Mill, please call 01666 505050 and we can discuss how we can get our flour out to you and agree the special charges that will apply.

How will my Order Be Delivered?

Orders from Flour Direct are despatched by DPD UK courier service via West Coast Express. Please remember you will need to be present to sign for the parcel unless you have provided alternative instructions. (See "What Happens if I'm Not In?" below).

If your order is large enough to be sent in two or more bags or boxes, please be advised that, despite the best efforts of our courier service to keep them together, it is possible that they may become separated and will arrive at different times.

Please note our packaging is not waterproof and therefore is likely to be spoiled by inclement weather if left out. Please see advice below on what to do if you are likely to be out when the courier company delivers.

When Will My Order Be Delivered?

Shipton Mill Ltd will endeavour to process and despatch your order within 3-5 working days. For orders received before 11am we will do our utmost to deliver next working day. This is our aim. But our ability to achieve this will depend on when your order is received, availability of stock, how many orders we have had that day AND the ability of the courier to meet the deadlines.

We will certainly endeavour to get your order out within 24 hours so that you should receive it within 2 working days. Many, indeed most, of our deliveries are made the next working day.

Courier's delivery times are typically from 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday. Following confirmation of your order, you will receive two emails from West Coast Express:

  1. The first will confirm that your order has been processed and is due for delivery.
  2. The second will be on the morning of your delivery and confirms delivery that day and approximate time of delivery.

Should a Saturday delivery be required please contact Shipton Mill Ltd and place your order over the phone as Saturday deliveries carry a surcharge. There are no Sunday or Bank Holiday deliveries.

Tracking Your Delivery

Once your order is despatched from The Mill it is taken to DPD’s depot where it is scanned into their tracking system. As soon as it is scanned in you can track it online as follows:

  • Go to the DPD website at: DPD Tracking
  • In the “Track It” panel, enter the 10 digit parcel number provided to you in your delivery confirmation email from West Coast Express. The number will begin with the four digits: 4353.
  • Click on "Next" and you will be able to track the progress of your delivery and the expected date and time of delivery.
  • If your order is very large or contains sacks it may well be delivered in more than one box. Despite the best efforts of our courier service to keep them together, it is possible that they may become separated and will arrive at different times. To view the progress of individual boxes within the consignment, hover your mouse over the consignment number and click to view.

If you have any difficulty tracking your order, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What If My Items Are Not In Stock?

In the unlikely event a product is out of stock and if it is likely to remain unavailable for longer than a week Shipton Mill Ltd will refund the value of that product and despatch the remainder of the order.

What If I'm Not in When The Courier Company Arrives?

Please remember you will need to be present to sign for the parcel unless you have instructed us to leave it in a safe place or deliver to a neighbour. These instructions can be provided when you place your order.

Please note our packaging is not waterproof and therefore is likely to be spoiled by inclement weather if left out. We strongly suggest you choose somewhere dry for the courier to leave your items in case it is raining when the courier company delivers - Flour doesn't like rain!

If you have not provided alternate instructions and you are not in, the courier will leave a card and re-attempt delivery the following day.

What If I Live in Northern Ireland, Eire or a Remote Area?

Sadly we, like many other UK companies, are subject to the charges applied by courier companies to deliver to postcodes deemed further afield by the courier. As a company however, we are very keen to support bakers throughout the UK and unlike some other companies we heavily subsidise this additional charge.

Naturally charges will depend on the size of an order; for the average Flour Direct order to remote postcodes we absorb £10.15 of the cost but regretfully we have to pass the remainder on to the customer. We are only a small company and on most of our orders to these postcodes our company actually makes a loss. Despite this, our philosophy is to continue to deliver the best possible flour and service to customers regardless.

It is regrettable that in more remote areas as defined by the couriers, the standard delivery is two days regardless of how quickly we despatch your order from The Mill. We would kindly request that you factor these timescales into your ordering as we would hate you to run out of flour at a critical moment.

Variable Charges:

For Northern Ireland and Eire, our delivery charge is £16 plus 41p per kilo.

For Scotland (Zone 1) standard delivery charges apply but delivery will take 2 days following despatch from the Mill. Zone 1 postcodes as designated by the courier are as follows:

AB31

AB33-38

AB44-56

IV30-32.

For Scotland (Zone 2) in addition to our standard charge of £6 there is a surcharge of £12.15. As for Scotland Zone 1, delivery will take 2 days following despatch from the Mill. Zone 2 postcodes as designated by the courier are as follows:

FK 17-99                                   KW

HS1-9                                       PA20-48,60-78

G83                                          PH18-26,30-44

IV1-28,33-51,55-56,63               ZE1-3

KA27-28

Regretfully our website sometimes brings up a surcharge if a postcode contains elements of these postcodes even when the whole of the postcode DOES NOT fall within these brackets (e.g. FK8). If this should occur, please telephone us with your order and we can manually overide the system. We apologise for this inconvenience.
